Just look at the free energy threads on here. Why anyone would want to produce bovine excrement beats me.

How would a cow produce synthetic dung from non-edible greens?

Oh, thats just an assumption in the header! It would be called synthetic why?

Cow dung is very much natural and the cow is pretty fine in producing it.

Non-edible greens is just the other oximoron I can see here. If the cow can not eat it, it could still be able to digest it.

I think the cow can unless the question is rephrased to a more palable sense!

I think maybe you are asking the wrong question...

What do you want to use the cow dung for?
Ask can non edible greens be converted to that use.

It depends on whether they are humanly inedible versus bovinely inedible. It probably won't work if you attempt this at home. But what the hay, you never know until you try.

Yea you force feed the cow the non edible greens until they come out the other end.

Note: This may not work the cow may die first. As you have not told us why the greens are non edible. Toxins in the greens may kill the cow before it's able to pass any. Then you will have animal right activist or maybe even the law beating on your door for animal cruelty. Wouldn't be easier to use a digester.

What is synthetic about cow dung?

Yes. We call it compost. Just throw your inedible greens in something like this.

Absolutely!!

Why, in our country it happens everyday. We have people that take our cash and feed us a line of male bovine excrement regularly! Visit your local politician for further info.

How much are you willing to pay for this patented design?

What do you really want to do???

There is almost nothing too strange for someone to have said it. There is a US patent from 1938 for a method of making synthetic manure from inedible green material. As near as these old eyes can tell, it's a compost pile.

May be a robotic cow can be deployed.

If it is a bullbot one may end up with synthetic Bu** s***t.

Seriously, is this for some alternate energy generation?

While visiting an old friend who used to mow yards as part of his landscaping business I noticed several large black garbage bags under an oak tree in his side yard. I went over to see what was in them, picked one of them up to find it was extremely heavy and waterlogged.

I asked him what they were and he said grass clippings but they turned to gigantic cow pies. Of course I had to open one up and sure enough it was 80 pounds of pure cow poop!

Apparently his bagger on his big riding mower picked up some milorganite or actual cow poop from the sod farm where the new sod he mowed came from and along with rain water had turned the 30 gallon bags of grass clippings into artificial cow dung!

My Dad used to joke about cow pies being simply grass and water but it actually worked this time using dried cowpies as a 'starter' just like you use to make leavened bread.

Smelled exactly like an 80 pound fresh cow pie too!
