Regarding Deaerator Pressure

08/21/2014 5:47 AM

In our combined cycle power station,Deaerator pressure is more than 2.2 KSC, and temperature is 128 deg C (Normally before 120 degC only). All the pegging steam supply line valves taken from the LP main steam line are kept closed due to passing. No passing now. But still pressure is not getting reduced.vent out steam from the deaerator also normal as before. What could be the probable reason? increase in feed water temperature may cause pressure raise in deaerator?

A good tool to have handy is a set of Steam Tables. Try "Thermodynamic Properties of Fluids", by Mayhew & Rogers, any editon, or there is a set in Perry, "The Chemical Engineer's Handbook", any editon, as well as many other places.

What does the Kennedy Space Center have to do with steam pressure?

What is pegging steam?

Sorry to hear about your valves dying.

What is your feedwater temperature? Any other feed - condensate, etc?

Yes, feedwater temperature increase will cause a rise in deaerator temperature and theerfore a pressure increase will exist.

Thanks for your reply. Due to this feed pump's suction pressure also increased to 3.0 KSC., Is this raise in deaerator temperature and pressure harmful?

Dear Friend,

You have not indicated the FEED WATER Temp. to De-Aerator, before passing of steam observed and stopping of steam passing.

I am of the opinion that the feed water temp. should have a difference, before and after.

But from your statement, passing stopped may not be true. Pl.check.
