Steam....lacking access to steam, then Gunk and hose it....cover electrical components with plastic....let dry thoroughly before restart....compressed air to blow water off a +...

Quarter car wash, which now costs two dollars.

How about going over to the toothpaste thread?

Toothpaste seems useful for cleaning and polishing everything.

You get someone else to do it for you.

How dirty is it anyway?

since he is cleaning the engine "bay", I suggest using oil booms, or whatever BP uses.

Know anyone with a dry ice blasting machine? Great engine cleaning tool, no need to cover electronics, clean everything including the batter, electronics, hoses, etc. You can clean a entire engine auto engine compartment with about $10-15 (10-20 lbs) in dry ice. This may not be practicle for your use as you need a large compressor (185), a dry ice blasting machine, and dry ice which usually need ot be ordered ahead of time and, if delivered, minimum delivery quantity is typically 500 lbs. This is why if you know someone that has a machine they probably will have everything else needed also and will be the only practicle way to clean one auto engine compartment.

FYI, don't EVER use a pressure washer to clean an engine.

A former co-worker of mine thought it would be a cool idea. F-ed up his Jeep Wrangler with an intermittent electrical problem. After replacing half of the electrical system, including the ECU, he gave up and traded it in. Let the next guy figure it out.

If you see a 2000 red Jeep Wrangler on the market cheap, don't buy it.

Let the next guy figure it out.

Oh how very ethical, hope he used it as a trade in that was then scrapped.

Guess we will find out soon when someone starts posting on CR4 about their intermittent electrical problems with their new red 2000 Jeep Wrangler they just brought. You can handle those. Awkkkkkward.
