Where's The FDA?

09/24/2014 7:56 AM

A recent study has shown that levels of HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) are double what's stated on the labeling of many popular soft drinks.

http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news/usc-study-finds-more-fructose-in-soda-than-label-indicates-060414.html

So what good are mandatory labels?

Aside from containing concentrated glyphosate from GM corn, HFCS has proven connections to diabetes, obesity in children, liver disease, and a host of other problems. It's not the same as sugar!

Might as well throw in the cancer causing "caramel coloring" that is routinely thrown into our food and drink also.

Where's all of the money going?

$5 billion is a lot of money, and I have to do my own research in an attempt to keep my young daughter healthy. Labels mean nothing!

I don't want to hear that the government has determined that these things are safe at current levels. The very same politicians that are allowing this, are running campaigns on the need to spend more money on the "inexplicable" rise of obesity and diabetes in children.

why waste corn when we can burn vast amounts of nat gas to convert it to ethanol and drive up food costs?

Where's the FDA?

Dying due to lack of funding and poor leadership.

Why, because politicians can't get any bribes from you or me to do what's right.

So, they divert our tax dollars to programs that benefit those who pay them off.

I wouldn't say lack of funding is the problem. The FDA's budget has gone from $3.2B in 2010 to $4.6B in 2-14, a 44% increase in 4 years. That's a lot of growth in a short amount of time, so I'd be concerned about waste and abuse.

Poor leadership is a likely culprit, and along with that is a poor set of priorities for what it should be doing.

In their defense, the FDA does have a difficult set of tasks. Not only do they have responsibility for new drug testing and safety but they also have to worry about the growing amounts of food imports from around the world. That's a lot of policing to do.

Not only is that a lot of money, but when a valid study is done, outside the FDA, the least they could do is act on it or let us know. The three primary ingredients in Coke and Pepsi are water, high fructose corn syrup, and caramel coloring...two of them are poisons that are making people sick.

After I posted the thread this morning, I read another article about almost 1/2 of all Americans being unhealthy due to a lack of iodine, and the reason is that food companies switched to bromide, rather than iodine as a preservative. This was all done with the government's approval.

The problem?

It sounded good to add iodine to salt, but bromide also blocks the absorption of iodine, so people only get about 10% of the iodine in the salt they use. Way lower than the recommended daily amount...which leads to easily correctable thyroid issues, but nobody even knows why they feel bad.

Then I'm listening to the radio on the way to work, and several medical groups want the head of the FDA to step down because they, (FDA), have okayed so many addictive opiates, (with oxycodone in the lead), that they have created a nation of addicts.

It wasn't long ago that I thought all of this was left wing fear mongering, but it's not.

My brother, the organic farmer, kind of got me looking into this stuff because I thought he was full of sh*t. Nope.

The unholy alliance between corporate and government has gone way beyond the military industrial complex that Eisenhower warned us about. It now includes the computer industry, energy sector, food, transportation...just about everything.

PS- I attempted to open that Youtube video from DuckDuckGo, which doesn't track you and allows you to surf and search anonomously. I was promptly sent a message by Youtube that nothing there could be viewed anonomously, and had to sign in using google...which owns Youtube.

Don't worry about the military-industrial-computer-espionage-pseudoscience-political lobbyist-Monsanto-lawyer-Microsoft-Google complex.

The CIA's got your back. And your front. And your balls.

If you haven't read reply 16 from Lyn. You need to go back and read what he attached about Firestone. It can be done.
