Hydrogel

09/30/2014 5:13 AM

Dear engineers and scientists,

For my thesis I am searching for a hydrogel that limits the diffusion of calciumions.

The objective of this is to get the calciumconcentration in the hydrogel within a certain measurable (with fluorescent Cameleon) range.

Unfortunately I don't know where to start looking, do you have a suggestion?

Kind regards,

OK, so with water as the linking agent, you could probably use an alcohol as the dispersing agent...

You're probably going to want to use DI water, and investigate various alcohol's reaction with calcium compounds.

If you want something OTS, then start searching Google for hydrogels by following the money - "Who has what for sale."

Other than that, I can't see you getting a leg up on a thesis project on this site. I wish you luck!

If you don't know where to start looking then anywhere would do.

Look at the screen of a search engine.

If you are writing a thesis and don't know how to do it, I suggest that you quit school and get a job.

If, as I understand this, you are seeking to write an informative paper on this subject, that you seem to have no knowledge of....? Is this correct..? If so I think you should start with a much simpler subject...You get to be knowledgeable in a subject by following the research and methods of others working in this area, reading materials that pertain to different areas that are associated with the chemistry involved and problems associated with previous attempts....You don't dive into the deep end of the pool and start shouting for help in the hopes that some kind soul will take pity on your stupidity and keep you from drowning while you proclaim to the world ,"LOOK I'VE DONE IT!!!"

Start by searching hydrogel and go from there...
