In Florida we have had autonomous cars for a long time. Many of the drivers are already brain dead and many more are practicing the trade.

And, many more are multitasking while at the wheel.

Driving while doing hair, makeup, coffee, texting while talking and looking for a boutique and yelling at the brats in the back seat.

I can't wait to see a line of electronically-linked autonomous cars speeding up from a stop, eventually reaching 65 mph, then exiting the freeway and coming to a stop, all exactly two feet from each other the entire time. (Must allow for turning clearance and provide a smidgen of respect for human nerves, otherwise could bring them closer together.)

I predict it will happen, and future generations won't think much of it.

Makes passing such a group of vehicles much more difficult if they drive in tight formation.

Given that they will most like have some form of anti-collision system I predict a new sport of spooking autonomous vehicles by slowly swerving into their way.

The anti-collision system might also function as a target acquisition system to eliminate any A-hole humans on the highway. Sort of Automated Road Rage. ..!..
