Please provide meaningful data, such as how much the cylinder weighs, whether it is horizontal or vertical, what it is made of, and what it contains.

Thank you Tornado for your reply. The cylinder is called "Yankee Dryer" used in the paper making process. It is horizontal, made of cast iron, it contains straws to remove the condensate water, and it weighs 50 tons.

How often do you want to move it, where from, where to, and why? I have to ask, Mildred, because you've given me so little to go on.

I need to move it because i bought a new Yankee to replace it. I am moving it from the machine inside the plant to the stores outside the plant. We do not move it often. Once every 15+ years.

If you only move it infrequently, you may be better off hiring a good rigging contractor. They will have the dollies and any other equipment needed to lift and move the unit, and will do it faster, more efficiently, and more safely than you can. It probably won't cost you more then the dollies either.

Why keep the old one on dollies at all, then? Why not scrap it once and be done with it? Why not crane it to where it needs to go, which is still an indeterminate distance from where it is? After all, you're going to need to lift it onto the dollies and off at the destination.

UNFORTUNATELY, we brought many rigging contractors, many crane companies...they all need to dismantle half of the plant!!! (because the Cylindre i need to move is installed in a crouded area, surrounded by other equipments). None of these companies or suppliers or operators gave us a guarantee that they can move it, like we are planning to do, without being unsafe. THAT IS WHY WE ARE DOING IT OURSELVES!

Wait a minute, let me repeat what you just said. You brought many professionals to your plant. They all agreed on the only safe way to extract this cylinder. None of these professionals guarantee that they can move this cylinder. These two statements contradict each other. [Sorry, I used a few three syllable words there.] These two statements cannot both be true about the same thing. This means that you are not telling us the whole story. Yet you still think that we can help you to do something you are not qualified to do. (If you were qualified you would not have to ask a fundamental question like where one can buy dollies.[Argh, four syllables])

No. Your desires to move these cylinders do not trump the laws of Physics. A clear path in and out must exist to move these cylinders. Who decided to crowd this cylinder in the first place.

You might check out something like what AeroGo has to offer. It's not an endorsement but I've seen Locomotive engines being moved around the assembly plant with little to no effort.

What your wanting to do is no easy feat. Sorry nobody had the foresight to ensure that there was easy access for equipment change out.

Unless that million dollars include the price for removal and installation, it will certainly cost much more.

You might try a Google search on the internet in the first instance.

We need the dolly to rotate it 45 degrees East, then straight line, then 45 degrees West. Thank you for your concern. Appreciated.

I found a good one at rigging.com

http://rigging.com/dollies-and-skates/powered-dollies/self-powered-crawler-dollies/self-powered-crawler-dollies-deluxe-kit-capacity-75-tons.html

But it seems that they don't ship outside US, Canada, Latin America. My plant is located in Lebanon (Asia, Middle East).

Dear Colleagues, Thank you all for your help but unfortunately some of you are answering my questions with other questions, as in fact you should give me answers such as websites, manufacturers, suppliers.... Do not worry about how i will move my cylinder, this is my job, i just need dollies and my problem will be solved.

Thank you for your concern. Answering your questions:

"What qualifications do you have to do this work?" I have a full team of very well experienced engineers and technicians.

"Is this actually a homework assignment?" No it is not. It is a huge project (1 million euros) because the mill have to stop production for 7 days (normally i only stop 4 hours per month for maintenance).

"Did you perform any kind of a web search?" Duh!

"Where are you?" In Lebanon, Asia, Middle East

"Why do believe that you know better than outside contractors to move this cylinder? It is my cylinder, i take full responsibility if anything happens." The contractors are not signing the insurance form in case of failure because it is a million dollar equipment. Again i tell you that I have a full team of very well experienced engineers and technicians. We have brains too.

"Then there is the surprise that your paper mill(?) resides in one of the least politically stable regions on this planet." Bro, do not let the news brainwash you. I can send you an invitation to come and visit Lebanon and enjoy its beauty and its people...all on me!

"Since you are offended by some here, you are due a refund of the fee you paid to be here." I registered for free. I'm not offended, I'm just telling them not to go off topic.

"If you post your Cayman or Swiss bank account number and access password here, somebody will gladly withdraw submit double your access fee for visiting CR4." I don't need a refund even though i registered for free, i have enough money, i remind you im investing 1 million euros.

Last but not least, you still did not answer my question: where can i buy heavy duty driven dollies?

Thank you.

Dear Mr.George,

I had no intention of hurting your feelings. But I was puzzled how you can carryout such responsible job when experts have regretted for the same. Anyhow you have got addresses of Dollies suppliers you can do it yourself.
