If a simple google search is to complicated for them to do, how can they expect to set up the complicated operation of a lathe?

Does the lathe have a taper attachment, or are you using the compound slide to do this?

The posts provided so far are all compound slide method.

If you are doing tailstock offset, you may need to account for sine versus tangent of the angle in question.
