If plastic is acceptable, PVC might work. Various low-pressure chlorine injection parts are made of it.

For metals, I think silver is used, or something similarly unusual.

This may help Flowserve. You may contact their technical sales and support for further inquiry.

Seat material could be Reinforced Teflon or Teflon (Tetrafluoroethylene) and other parts material could be found in the pdf.

Use the same stuff that your pipework is made of.

Response #4 by Crabtree is the only correct answer to this Original Poster's question.

The Root (or isolation) valve must be included in the Hydrotest of the piping system. Therefore it must be the same type, rating and material as all other block/isolation valves in the system.

Depending on the Chlorine Gas pressure, I would suggest Stainless steel. For Liquid Sodium Hypochlorite we would use Stainless or CPVC, though the CPVC would get brittle after several years in service transporting the bleach.

Good luck!

Any compound capable of donating free chlorine ions (Cl -) to an aqueous (water-based)solution has the potential for causing failure in stainless steels. The chlorine ion is extremelyelectronegative, and therefore very reactive with certain compounds and elements.
Preferred MOC for Isolation Valve for the Liquid/Gas chlorine line- Aluminium Silicon Bronze with Monel spindle & Teflon Washer.

I believe we use Carpenter-20 (CN7M, I believe) for piping from vacuum regulators on the bottles (materials there are selected by vendor), and the regulator uses PTFE valve membranes, vyton O-rings, and possibly some PVDF parts. The main body of the regulator is some sort of plastic that is typically not under continous exposure to the gas chlorine. I am not sure, but I think the eductor is made from EPDM (appears cheap, but unaffected), and the chlorine solution in water is carried by plain, ordinary 80 Schedule PVC. At least, that is how we do it where I work.
