Yep, a search of images under diatom on ... you guessed it, Google .... and you get the above pic. Does it look familiar?
Going further, it would seem that diatoms are useful in monitoring water quality in both fresh and sea water. Go do a Google search .... like I have said before, it is a bad day when you do not learn something. Thankyou to all.

Saw this wierd bird on telly the other night. One of CR4's best points is seeing strange stuff. That is one odd looking bird.

It's huge fun to try figure what some picture is. I have no idea how this bird evolved so. The greater fun in all such tuff is trying to figure it without resort to google.

Great posts Fredski, I just wanted to point out that people can seem to have a 'knowing' answer. I very much enjoy the guessing game, it's much more fun.

Anybody able to explain this birds mouth ? I haven't the foggiest. It was on a TV show the other day (no explanation given). CR4 is the only place I can find intelligent comment and speculation. Googleering is a cheet - the vast majority of CR$ people are way better than that.
