many people like myself hoped for a prototype or two and now we'll get that. the concept of an air bearing to lift heavy loads is a proven concept.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ggXBFkC_wc will the leading edge of the bearing retain the integrity of the air cushion at over 500 MPH? will it require a special skirt design?
assuming that problem is managed I'm envisioning some type of wheel at all 4 corners of the car. not only would they retract for "at speed travel" but they would be used for maneuvering the car as its loaded and unloaded in the tube. in an emergency and air pressure was lost the wheels would deploy down so the car wouldn't slide on the tube floor and crash.
my biggest hurdle is not the feet but maintaining a vacuum or partial vacuum in 500+ mile tunnel
so the challenges are there, I'm eager to see some test data in the future.
