What could be wrong with an air conditioner when its just the indoor unity fun that runs while the compressor is failing to start.

I actually had that happen. It was a June bug in the middle of June.

What is worse is mouse pee on a mother board.

the most simplistic units have no boards but the fields seem to attract bugs, fire ants, and these guys,which when crushed are like a glue

It's usually a failure to read the troubeshooting section of the user manual, Mildred! I'm sure the manufacturer's telephone number is in there somewhere, but then I'm funny that way.

The compressor fails to start or is there more than one issue? If the compressor is the only issue, it may be compressor start capacitor. It is usually mounted somewhere near the compressor., is a large capacitor. It will cost about 20 bucks. This is about the only user replacable item.

It's either the doohickey or the thingumabob.

Thingamajigs hardly ever go rogue and quit working, but they do get low on that other stuff.

If you can find the thermostat, try setting it on "auto" and "cool".

Beyond that call a repairman cause you will not be able to make it work without help.

could be condenser failure condenser fan not working causes the refrigerant to not go back to a gas this causes high head pressure in the compressor and the whole thing wont start up

Brush all the cobwebs off the condenser (the outdoor thingy with many copper tubes running through closely spaced fins or tinsel of aluminum). Look for a red overload reset button somewhere; press it.
