Well the Hellcat did a "red light" so he just put on a smoke show...no race here.

Yawn. 11.68 is great for an EV, but many other production cars will do better.

The example in the video simply shows a very badly driven Dodge. The published times for a stock 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat driven by a professional driver is about 11.2 seconds through the 1/4 mile. There are other supercars that push that time to sub-eleven seconds on street tires.

EVs have a lot of torque, but much beyond 0-60 times they poop out compared to their combustion engined counterparts.

I like the Tesla S, but we can't quite claim the king (the I.C.E.) is dead quite yet.

Yeah, it's a yawn all right. I used to run 11's in a '65 Comet Cyclone! (well it was modified slightly)

289 - HI-PO 271 HP originally. We did a lot to it to basically create a 5L with over 300 HP. The damn car only weighed around 2600 lbs...HP/weight always wins! (plus some damn good suspension and tires)

I used to pull upper 20's in a 1952 International L110!

220 I6 and 4 speed on floor instead of the stock 3 on columb. First three gears in under 100 feet followed by a long slow 4th to the end.

Anyone who was on a bicycle or on foot never stood a chance!

Definitely cool. I wondered what would happen when that thing came back down, then the chute popped. Still probably would kill someone if it hit them but at least with the chute, they have a fighting chance to run out of the way before it 'landed'.

The Hellcat sure is fast. With a 1,700 HP fourteen cylinder radial engine, the later ones topped out at over 400 miles per hour.

Re: The Hellcat is Fast!

I can't help thinking that even if the EV can outsprint the ICE, when the EV has drained it's batteries (very quickly in that full-on sprint mode, I'm thinking) and is desperately hoping for a charging station, the Hellcat will still be humming on down the road, even AFTER burning extra fuel in the same sprint contest with the EV. And I, for one, and not going to spend premium dollar on anything that won't run at least as far as my 13 year old Honda without needing to take even ONE hour off to get a recharge. I LIKE being able to do 8-12 miles with one 20 minute combined pit-stop/fill-up (fill what's empty, empty what's full, and get back on the road), and there is NO EV built yet that can go 330 miles on a charge, hit a pump for 10 minutes, and put in another 330.

So, even if the Tesla can outrun light, if it can't do it for at least as long as my clunky old Honda can maintain highway speeds, I'm not interested.

Thanks

I have a question for the group. Back in the 60s, when Chrysler was installing Hemis, You were upgraded to a Dana 60 with the 440-4 speed or the Hemi. That was 425 hp. Even if you want to believe they fudged the power rating, It was nowhere near 707. What rear end is able to stand up to that much power now?
