Converting SD Card Storage to HDD

I have a CCTV device that records on to an SD card or mini SD card however the capacity is limited to around 64 Gig

Is there a simple way to tap in to the SD card I/O and rewire it to write data to an external hard drive instead so i can have 2 or 3 terabytes of storage ?

In real time? I don't know.

I've got a Samsung laptop with a built-in SD port. I just plug the SD card in and I can copy the data to the hard drive.

I've also got an SD to USB converter cable. It has SD and mini SD slots on one end of the cable and a standard USB plug on the other end.

Yes i want to write video data from the CCTV camera to the hard drive in real time

On a cursory search I found SDIO CARDS they come in a variety of R/F flavors wifi, Bluetooth and others including cameras, gps and more.

I do not know if any of these items will work for you or in your recorder. But the idea was use a wifi link to a wifi enabled storage device something similar another posted.

Google SDIO cards gets a lot of info and some vendors.

some of these devices may work , I am still reading up on specs to check what is compatible without any supporting software

Does the CCTV have USB? The ones I have used had both SD and USB and were able to store to a HDD usb connected.

The device is very similar to a car "crash cam" which have only a mini SD card so there is no USB plug that can transfer live video for saving on another storage medium
