Is Korea Going to the Moon?

South Korean president Lee Myung-bak, speaking at the International Astronautical Congress, has signalled his country's intention to develop its space technology, possibly reaching the moon by 2020. Why do some countries want to spend billions going to the moon when the feat was accomplished 40 years ago? Even former U.S. astronauts have admitted there's little scientific benefit in returning to the moon. What possible good could it accomplish — increase their international scientific status?
