While I applaud the idea of people working to maintain their peer pressure connections, does anyone really have to send that text message now? We've certainly taken gossiping to new heights.

Imagine this.

You get in a car crash or you are out hiking and fall, an animal attacks you, and you battery is dead because your phone was out of service and the battery drained faster than anticipated because of the increased power output.

Now there is an emergency, you are in an area that can get cell service, but your battery is dead. If only I had a way to charge my phone to make an emergency call to get help.

Same idea could be used for GPS devices, 2 way radios, and military applications, when something unexpected keeps you away from your charger.

The only application for cell phones is not gossiping about what Susie was wearing.

Good idea and a way to think outside the box. Remember it is a lot easier to criticize an idea or find flaws with it than to applaud the inventor for taking a chance, or to become the innovator and put that invention into practice. Easier yes, but you don't get very far, Science dosn't get very far.

Here's an idea - how about a charging system that links generation to the movement of the lower jaw: the longer the chat, the more the battery recharges!

It's the funniest thing watching two people walking along side-by-side, both of them chattering into phones simultaneously. Why don't they just put the phones away and talk to each other normally?

Why not replace the twirler with those new voltage generators that operate off of pressure and vibration? Then you could just put your phone on the floor and stomp on it.

Why not install one of those motion chargers like in some decent wrist-watches. I owned one once, that simply charged off the movement of my body, worked well, never went dead, and never needed a battery replacement... too bad i gummed up the glass with weld spatter... But I know my phone sits in my pocket while I'm out and about. I'm sure it experiences some small forces while swaying back and forth in my pocket while I walk/run/drive/bike/dance/play a wii... etc etc.
