Agreed, I too hope for winter survival.

But a triumphant hurrah! for this magnificent robot. Spirit and her sister craft, Opportunity, have far exceeded everyone's expectations. These two little robot's six year exploration of Mars is longer than the five year period from the Apollo 1 tragedy to splashdown of the Apollo 17 capsule, and Opportunity continues on. Not bad for a projected 90 day lifetime. The wealth of information gained by these two and their longevity maybe the finest argument against manned exploration. At least until one of them or another robot finds something worthy of the trip.
