Is Outer Space for You?

Posted January 20, 2010 7:40 AM

Readily-available consumer space flight is not quite here yet, but it's coming soon. Would you put a trip into space on your trip on your bucket list? Since cost is obviously still an obstacle, would you consider dropping $200,000 on a ticket presuming if you won $2,000,000 in the lottery? Or maybe you think the SpaceShipTwo program is a technical novelty at best, or a demonstration of excess at worst? Tell us your thoughts.

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Electrical Components, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Electrical Components today.

In a heartbeat!

A reporter asked me, about a year after Challenger when I was working on the DFI PCM system for the next launch if I would fly the shuttle. That is the same answer I gave then as now. Embellished a bit by ".... crawling over glass from Newtown PA to the cape..."

Space and Deep Ocean are two vital frontiers and both can teach us much. To be able to go there, even as a spectator, has always been a dream of mine.

after much fantasising, i came to the conclusion that it's no big deal.$200 g's i'll buy a brand new cessna and fly it anytime.what you see out there will not match your expectations.that's why branson is so rich, because people buy anything he puts out.
