HSBC Admits Huge Data Theft

About 24,000 clients of HSBC's private banking operation in Switzerland had personal details stolen by a former employee, the company has admitted. In December, HSBC said that just 10 account holders were affected by the theft, which happened three years ago.

HSBC said that just 10 account holders were affected by the theft, which happened three years ago.

And this story is just breaking. Is there any crime in the future due to this theft?

...and, that's *why* the best security policy is to NOT give out ANY information to ANYONE.

...if THEY don't have have it, THEY can't loose it.

...I'd like to see every holder of "private" information be held both CIVILALLY and CRIMINALLY liable for any/all breeches and losses of information...that way, they'd either get more diligent or go bankrupt and out of business.
