Brain Training Leaves Users as Dumb as Ever

Posted April 21, 2010 11:11 AM

From TG Daily:

Some very clever people with better things to do than fiddle about on a Nintendo DS have explained to the rest of us that brain training games are useless. If you read the fairly short articles, you'll see they are talking about two completely different things.

One says that engineering students (a non typical group) doing engineering related games may well improve their engineering skills.

This is different from the assertion that average people doing non specific mental exercises may show an improvement in general thinking skills.

As usual, a whole lot more research is needed before we know what actually works.
