Posted May 05, 2010 4:13 PM

From TreeHugger:

"Pass me that crossbow..." Who said protecting marine life was boring? A team with the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies used an arrow with 4 razor blades and a crossbow to free a Right Whale (classified as "endangered" on the IUCN's Red List) from a rope that ensnared its upper jaw and could potentially kill it by cutting into its flesh over time and causing infection. These thrilling heroics are even more impressive since Right Whales are known as a species that is very evasive and won't let humans approach it...Read the full story on TreeHugger

Great story with a happy ending..
But puhleeeeese ...Robin Hood with a crossbow?
C'mon every kid knows it's William Tell with the crossbow!
Robin Hood had a longbow.
Crossbow target shooting is still popular in Swizerland/Germany central Europe.

You have to admit though. This was one hell of a shot. 40' feet away while in a boat and at a moving target with a cross bow.

I immediately thought of Del when I saw this. Somewhere in Cr4 ther asre sevreal bow making posts and one (at least) of Del demonstrating a cross bow. Very impressive!
