San Francisco Set to Pass Cell Phone Radiation Law

More nanny-state legislation. The phone emissions are already regulated by the FCC. Careful studies have shown no connection between cell phone radiation and human health risks. I doubt any member of the SF board of supervisors can quantify which frequencies and intensities are significant to any specific illness.

From the article: "Rather than inform, the ordinance will potentially mislead consumers with point-of-sale requirements suggesting that some phones are 'safer' than others, based on radio frequency emissions," said John Walls, vice-president of public affairs for the CTIA.

Another example of politicians passing legislation targeting a subject that they know absolutely nothing about. It's funny how some people seem to think that, just because they convinced the general populace in their district to elect them, it some how makes them intelligent.

Why do they always use an adjective that they themselves do not possess?

Actually, after further contemplation, this may not be a bad thing. Now, we can see the relative transmitting power of different phones. I can just pick the one with the hottest transmitter. That way I can hopefully get a phone with better range. Maybe they should mandate that the reciever sensitivity be listed too

Fat chance. The radiation will probably be legislated to be expressed in some fictitious units of measure from Star Trek, thus rendering them useless.

Soon they will regulate Tv and radio signal which can be much stronger than cell phone signals. I wonder if they have a clue about this? If cell phone signals are bad then will radio and tv need to go away from their (informed?) perspective?

Only if those transmissions contain information that runs contrary to their political platform.
