Russia Launches Floating Nuclear Power Plant

Russian nuclear engineering group Rosatom launched the world's first floating nuclear power plant Wednesday, according to The Voice of Russia. Photos show the Akademik Lomonosov, a 21,500-ton barge equipped with twin 35-megawatt light-water reactors, slipping into the water at St. Petersburg's Baltic Shipyard.

After the Chernobyl disaster that left us red forests the russians are now trying to give us bigger red tides!

A very interesting idea. Essentially a turn key mobile nuclear power plant that can be built and shipped anywhere in the world. It could open a new worldwide market. Ecologically, it is risky, but the U.S. may pick up on this idea so as not to be left out of a potentially lucrative business.
