Moon to Blush Red During Total Lunar Eclipse

Posted March 02, 2007 7:55 AM

From New Scientist - Latest Headlines:

The Earth's shadow will completely cover the Moon during the most dramatic phase, which will last a little more than an hour - from 2244 to 2357 GMT.

I stayed up and stood out in the cold to watch it, but I was disappointed. You could see the Moon get paler as it was eclipsed, but it showed no sign of redness from where I was (North Midlands UK). So much for a "blood moon" which gave a bad omen to the ancients!
