Navy Developing ... a Vomit Gun

Posted March 06, 2007 7:12 PM

From Gizmodo:

Yes, Invocon Inc., funded by a Navy contract is developing a weapon that can shoot invisible beams through walls and cause people to get dizzy and fall over. The beam can also cause motion-sickness that can induce vomiting. The gun shoots RF energy that excites and interrupts a human's hearing and equilibrium. This gun isn't really being developed as a way to harm individuals, but just to incapacitate people and embarrasses them if they vomit easily from motion sickness.

"The beam can also cause motion-sickness that can induce vomiting."

Maybe they can make it "Double Action" or "Double Barreled" and be twice as effective.

Hey thats about as funny as that weapon that makes you poop in your pants. From what I know they shoot a low frequency noise at a crowd of people and its like ConAgra's salmonella peanut butter to your bowels, making you ruin your favorite trousers and waddle home like a hemmoroid plagued cowboy.

If anyone has any information on other unusual military weapons please share! I seen a show once that showed a cloaking suit that had these sequin discs on it with a camera in the center of each one, they were scattered across the suit and it would take a picture of what was behind you and transfer the image across your suit, gun, gas mask and backpack. The guy disappeared and you could only see a slight blurr when he moved like on the movie "Predator".

I saw that one too. it was about weapons for troops and cops. they also dropped a small, localized EMP weapon.

I seen a really cool vehicle that the military has that blasts an explosives charged rope out for a long way and detonates to clear a vehicle path through a mine field. When I first seen it on video, it looked like a lightning bolt coming from the vehicle. I am curious to whose going to invent the ION Cannon to be used from space. (used in Command and Conquer video games)

You can't say we're not making progress. In every war they make you vomit in a new way.

Let's not forget, they paramilitary (police / national gaurd) had nausea gas back in the 60's during the campus revolts and race riots. What did they ever do with the stocks of that wonderful chemical. Also remember Dow Chemicals famous ad line form that era of "Without chemicals life itself would be impossible..." (napalm, agent orange, taubin, VX.....)

"I am not smart enough to know what I can't do!"

Can't anybody see where this is going? Just last year Wired Mag; had an article about the military inventing a beam that made people think their skin was being burned off them. Now a vomit gun, that means the pain gun is also in there also. What about the gun that strips you of all of your energy and you can hardly walk?

Congress has passed a bill enabling Torture to the public al large. Articles in the paper are speaking about Scientist findings on different styles of torture.

Are we as average John Doe citizens just going to stand by while the Gov now has complete freedom to torture us from a distance and not be able to pin the blame on who is doing it????

I thought this was supposed to be a moral right thinking country that values freedom of thought and speech as basic rights. If you look at these patterns forming that ain't so any more.

"Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks." They can't hide it forever. No matter how hard they try to appear otherwise, the Real Terrorists cannot help but reveal their true selves. We've seen it at Gitmo, in Iraq - even at Walter Reed Hospital. The World hates us because it hates terrorism. We are the terrorists. We are. And nothing furthers the cause of evil than for good men and women to stand by and do nothing.

I think the idea is Command and Preservation (of the Deserving as well as Undeserving); as opposed to Control by Death and Desolation. So there are choices as to which nothing is to be done, and at what cost, don't you see!

It is not obvious that either guest responded to your post; but, that aside, I wonder why your rebuke (in which, I gather, the hyperbole was intended for effect) was directed (if not at both guests then) at guest2 who, it should be clear, was attempting to rebut or dissuade an irrational opinion--one based on misapprehension of the nature of the subject--and one derived from an overabundance of vanity.

If, on the other hand, your remark was intended to augment or reinforce guest2's patient admonishment in more abrupt fashion, or to further silence guest1's tirade beyond that which had been evidently already achieved, then a more effective approach--rather than meeting vacuousness, in kind, with implicit insult--rather than driving the insecure zealot further into fear & alienation--might have been: first, to understand how the metaphorically visceral content of your post could reasonably have evoked a literally visceral (albeit misguided) opinion in response; and second, to explain how such an opinion misperceived what you really intended by your post.

In short, what good is patience and forbearance if reserved only for those with whom we already are in total accord or agreement?

That's a funny story but, seriously, it's just another waste of our taxpayer money. Pisses me off! We keep tolerating income taxes and the government keeps take advantage of us; ignoring us and wasting our money on all kinds of garbage like this. Government officials have absolutely no respect for the people. As taxpayers, we will forever be nothing but slaves. The 16th Amendment should be repealed and replaced with a permanent prohibition on the taxation of income. Let the government operate entirely on what it collects from legal fines, user fees and donations from people who genuinely support what does.

I have to disagree with that. As much as I hate being taxed, I would not wish for my country's government to have a budget too low, but I will agree with your anger towards the way they use it. I think that people could be taxed in a more appropriate way. The more stuff you buy the more tax you pay, I think I could go with that flat tax thing. It would be nice to make $20 an hour when I make $20 an hour, I am 27 and I or my children will not see social security, it's not enough to live on for anyone now anyway. I think the people of this country should get more of a vote, instead of some fillet-minon eating politician making our decisions for us. Most of them have lived with a silver spoon all their lives and don't know what it's like to make ends meet. They get into office and get spoiled and corrupted and lose their ability to make a good decision. We should vote for what our congress and senate does. They should hold nation wide elections once a month for people to vote in their opinion, this would keep the decisions from being one-sided. We definately need a change in our country though. I heard someone saying that O'Bama didn't have much political experience but I think that its good because he hasn't had time to get corrupt yet. I have been watching him a little. They should let us decide these things so we didn't waste billions everyday but they won't because they wouldn't recieve all the benefits they get if it was up to us.

I am reminded of an engineering philosophy which goes "We who have done so much with so little can be expected to do everything with nothing".

NOW!! The politicians philosophy:"We who have done so little with so much, can be expected to do nothing with everything."

This thread has gone highly political, and mine should probably be done under seperate cover, but my gripe is that the government has moved daylight savings time ahead two weeks. Their attitude is "Let the kids just move their clocks forward." I use the term 'kids' to mean their constituants.

I have a clock which I use as my basis which is tied into NIST (The American Bureau of Standards) which is part of the government. It is accurate to a second. The damn thing cannot be changed.

So I wish the politicians would keep their hands out of dictating time.

RE : Taxpayers money

I live in the UK, but watched an interesting film on Google video recently that was suggesting that you guys didn't need to pay income tax by law. Search for Freedom to Facism on Google video.

We trust that our British brethren (be they subjects or U.S. ex-pat's) still recognize non-sense when they see it, even if published by Google.

There is this guy that is teaching people not to pay their taxes. All they have to do is buy his program or product and he will show them how to do it.

He is getting ready to go to prison for not paying his taxes on all that money he has scammed out of people. Turns out he is wrong and he does have to pay his taxes, just like everyone else, except illegals of course. There is a very good saying that we are all familiar with: "If it sounds too good to be true it probably is" That is always a good rule to go by when you come across all of those get rich quick schemes.
