I see lead paint made the list...

Since the lead has been removed, the paint does not taste as good. I have to add my own lead to it to get the yummy taste I have enjoyed all through my childhood!

Yes, but the TV remote did not. Must have been an oversight.

To be fair, the remote control is only dangerous only when used with a spouse in close proximity.

So the wood we build our homes from is bad for us.

The paint we use to decorate our home is bad for us.

The insulation that keeps us warm or cool is bad for us.

The carpet and furniture that make our lives comfortable is bad for us.

The stuff that kills the things that are bad for us is bad for us.

The devices we use to make our lives better are bad for us.

The food we eat that makes us heather and live longer is bad for us.

The air we breath is bad for us.

The clothing we wear is bad for us.

The water we drink is bad for us.

The children we have to replace us when we die are bad for us.

I think that the real problem may be coming from the issue that medications that we use to combat OCD and paranoia don't work or are not being used enough. Because right now I am rather glad that at the end of my life I will be dead otherwise I don't think I could go on living knowing that everything that keeps me alive and healthy longer is killing me!

The most dangerous thing in the home is without a doubt the homeowner.

The second most dangerous are the idiots that try to protect everyone from everything.

Who woulda thunk that pesticides are bad for you? They don't stop with killing bugs?

Pressed wood - all furniture here is made of the stuff

About carpet - scientists are still researching? Maybe some loony group like the EWG that has maybe two members that know what science is.

Loony bunch trying to make the nanny state come more and more into being!

I think one thing that gets glossed over is the concentration of the "poisons".

People tend to think of it as a digital problem. That is, a trace amount is as deadly as a high concentration.

There are many substances that have ill effects. As long as the amounts of those substances are not excessive, the danger is relatively small.

In most cases worrying about all this stuff is more dangerous because of the resulting hypertension.

My gardener got a bit frightened when I caught him spraying pesticide on part of the garden. What he failed to understand was that pesticides are good if used properly but not if used as a cure all.

Many bugs are better to kill or remove by hand while that doesn't work with others. You need to think while applying. He is not too keen on my weed removal from the lawn - that is him doing it by hand - it works and is perfectly safe.

Greens complain about chemical used on farms but farmers learn the right way to go about it where as home gardeners are really much more dangerous.

Anon is 100% correct about concentration being important - the type of chemical is also important. This is something groups like the EWG can not manage to understand - I believe they are just too lazy.

Um #5 BPA and baby bottles.

So happens this is an area I've been involved in because some idiots alleged that PET contained BPA.

Totally false.

But as result I find out:

If you want to maximise the BPA leaching, so child absorption goodness;

1. alternate dish-washing the baby bottle with filling with orange juice.

2. always over heat liquid baby formula in a microwave.

3. use only liquid baby formula packaged in epoxy lined cans.

4. prior to use, leave said cans in direct sun, or in a closed vehicle, or the hottest place you can find.

It's not easy America - but you can do it if you try!

After reading this I realize I must retreat from civilization.

Maybe if I move to the wide open Plains. Naw, that won't work. A tornado or a thundering herd of cattle may get me.

Mountain top? Hypothermia would probably kill me.

Maybe on a boat at least 100 miles offshore? Gee, what if a violent storm capsizes the boat?

The desert?? Nope, I'm afraid of scorpions and would probably have a nervous breakdown.

I know, I'll move to the woods, at least 20 miles from any civilization. Ummm, no, that won't work, a tree limb may fall on me or a snake bite me. Or a democrat would try to lure me back to public housing for my own good.

Ah, well, guess I'll have to live with the fact that 'life is hazardous to my health'. Apparently, we'd all be better off dead.
