This "baby cage" was marketed for families living in tenements without easy access to outdoor spaces. Suspended from the side of the building, the baby would have access to fresh air and sunlight through the cage's wire frame, and still have sufficient room to play with toys, according to a patent filed in 1922 by an Emma Read of Spokane, WA. The patent also notes that the cage could double as a place to sleep, with removable curtains working to prevent a draft.

Brilliance! Although some of the core design elements may infringe on one or more of our company's "Razor Wire Play Jail" patents.

I was the infant you see in the picture, to this day, I have an uncontrollable aversion to pigeons!

Oh you guys make me so jealous some times.

My parents just used 'Hitlers Guide to Parenting' as a referance for raising me and I would have loved the out the window razor wire play pen! It would have been ten times better than the scream until they foam at the mouth and then lock me in the celler bit I got.
