This sounds like good news for hospitals and other areas where immune suppressed patients may be convalescent. The superbugs were beginning to present serious problems and have a potential to become much more invasive in large populations. High Intensity Narrow Spectrum (HINS) was not in my bag of disinfection tricks and I will try to learn more before too long.

These light systems could be used in a lot of locations. Public washrooms, public kitchens, high traffic escalators, elevators, are just a few areas that come to mind. I rarely use public banisters to assist going up or down stairs because I fear I would pick up something. If the system has little or no side affects as reported then I see this as a major breakthrough in controlling microbes in public places. We may even be able to disinfect lettuce or other vegetables we eat raw. I wonder how this HINS light could be applied within the water industry.

About 3 yrs. ago I came down with a MRSA infection. I believe I got it from being in the hospital, in my small town a few mos. earlier. I was prescribed large quantities of antibiotics. After taking large quantities of pills for a month nothing positive happened, so I was given twice as many more to take. After a couple of weeks, I started to get concerned enough to do my own research. I discovered something called 'Light Therapy.' I immediately pulled out an led flash light--the kind with the blue tint, from the kitchen drawer and started shining it on my ugly looking hand. Later that night, the wound started itching. I looked at it the next morning and it had turned brown from the red with white blotches it had been. I hit it a couple more times that day and withing 48 hrs. all the infection was dead and drying up. I have not been able to convince anyone of my story up to now but maybe this new research will validate my tale. I have since found this method works on other skin infection, also.

Goosemydog, (quite a handle). I was not of the impression that all HINS was available with normal blue LED lighting. Your wounds seem to react so there may be HINS in that particular light. It does glow purplish so maybe all this technology can be had readily and that is wonderful news. Maybe all we have to do is install these lights in washrooms, simple for the added assurance. I also understand that these lights are much less effective against viruses. But just getting those antibiotic resistant bugs under control is good. My computer is acting very slow today, so I will search HINS later for more information.

Better yet, look up Light Therapy. It's been research for decades in the eastern block countries and some Scandanavian, as well. My research indicated that the closer one got to the uv frequencies, the better it kills pathogens. I now keep an led flashlight around that was sold as a "uv" light, but really isn't. It's violet, not uv. The frequency range is extremely narrow. As I recall these "uv" flashlights are at 400 nanometers/sec. I think uv is a little lower. I've wanted to tell the local doctors about my experience but my girlfriend, who works at the local hospital (not the one I was in) tells me not to because they'd think I was nuts--which I say is beside the point, anyway. Now, I might be able to get her to tell them.

Yes. Another "modern" researcher has been John Ott.
