Sorry, I couldn't resist typing that...... Regardless of my posting, I do have a great respect for Russian space technology....leaders in many respects and achievements. NASA should take a few pages out of the Russian space program playbook and learn from it.

Too bad they lost the satellites, even if they are meant to compete with the USA's GPS....many billions of Rubles gone up in smoke, something the Russian Federation can ill afford. I suppose the Russian people will have to go back to using maps and compasses to traverse Siberia instead of using handheld GPS units (actually, it's called the Glonass-M navigation satellite constellation)?

But, then on sour note they were meant to finish the Russian's constellation of satellites as a means to overcome our block on the GPS sensitivity/accuracy, primarily for military weapons delivery.....was it "Fickle Fate"?
