"What's more, he has challenged any scientist to investigate his work."

Kinda part of the 'science' thing I think.

... yes but, there are some very valid theories (imho) coming down to us from the ancient texts (clay tablets) that suggest that meteors and meteorites in our solar system would have originated in a cataclysmic event that split the original earth in half, created the asteroid belt, and seeded the meteorite showers we still experience.

So the question remaining then is; How do you know if a meteorite is a truly interstellar or 'alien' meteorite, or if it just left this planet 65 million years ago.

Also, astronomer Tom Van Falndern espoused this idea with some good mechanics to back it up... Mars was a moon, comets actually came from this cataclysmic explosion, hence the multiple nucleus's..... Sitchin's work is also intriguing.

Hi lighthasmass, I have read some of Tom Van Falndern's works, and I can say that they certainly offer some good explanations for the asteroid belt, and myself when I was 16 years old and still at school, said that the solar system we see today looks nothing like it did severel millions of years ago!

Just look at this months challenge question. Any lump of rock "launched" from this planet (by the impact of another meteorite), is most likely to crash back into this planet rather than any where else; sooner more often than later, but, at least eventually.

The question is whether the astobiologist found more than just one or two bacteria. Any competent scientist will tell you that you need a lot more information than what was published to prove that the microbe in question came from beyond our solar system and/or from the earth itself.

About 40 years ago a palynologist from Exxon (Humble Oil Company) published a report in a company document about his finding of organic matter that was extracted from a meteorite. After much discussion the organic constitutents were dismissed as contaminants coming from mother earth itself. Could not the same be said for the bacteria found by NASA/Marshall Space Flight Center?

I think everyone would be happy to see some sort of evidence of alien life from beyond our solar system but the data just published by NASA/Marshall Space Flight Center will remain speculative unless more information is made available and can be shown to exist in other meteorites that the scientific community already has in hand.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention the palynologist who wrote the article that was published by Exxon (Humble). I believe his name was Frank L. Staplin. He worked with another gentlemen by the name of Stan Pocock who may have contributed to the article but it's been so long ago, I can't remember. Also, I can't recall if Frank or Stan were working for Imperial Oil of Canada at that point in time. Regardless, both were excellent and outstanding scientists.

For those who are interested, this is the reference for Frank L. Staplins paper on Microfossils from the Orgueil meteorite. Micropaleontology, vol. 8, no. 3, pp. 343-347, Pl. 1, July, 1962.

His work on the fossils has since been debunked by several professionals in the field, for many obvious reasons. I don't remember the exact location of the text, but contamination was a major figure as well as the failure to actually prove any microbe was ever present within the structures. Several reasons were given for the crystalline formations.
