Animal Byproduct Plastic?

Posted April 22, 2011 8:26 AM

When mixed with ultra-high-molecular weight polyethylene, meat and bone meal byproducts from animal rendering processes form a biodegradable plastic. Even a card-carrying carnivore might feel a little squeamish about wearing clothes made with animal byproducts. If these plastics go retail, should companies disclose that their polymers are "Bessie-based?"

No problems with this carnivore......now if those are poo-bags. There is a problem....I won't put my sandwiches in a poo based plastic.

So who is making plastic products for those of use who hate having all our plastics fall apart after just a few short weeks out in the sun?

I hate the new plastics that too many things are made of that fade, shrink, dry up, and all around just turn to crap in a short time.

There are things that can be done, but should't. This is one.

Popular Mechanix reported for a few years on reactors eliminating slaughterhouse waste, animal poo, etc. by converting it back to raw oil + bone ash. The raw oil is ready for the refinery.

Simple: garbage converted into oil. Clean, simple, beautiful.

Petro-plastics are already the product of dead animals and plants, are they not?
