How Much Brake Can You Take?

Posted April 28, 2011 7:00 AM

This month we presented an article interviewing a TRW Engineer on new trends in braking systems. It all started out with a foot to the ground, then a stick and eventually friction brakes as we know them today. Now we have anti-lock brakes and stability control systems. Next in line will be radar enabled braking and automated collision avoidance systems. At what point do we remove the driver and make the automobile completely automatic?

I presume that we also need to take account of Kinetic Energy braking systems which take power from braking and make it available for transmission. - (see F1 cars 2011).
