Senator Calls for Investigation of OnStar Privacy Issues

Posted September 26, 2011 5:54 PM

From Autoblog:

It appears that OnStar users have something in common with Rockwell, and we're not talking about an affinity for products from Detroit. You should always feel like somebody's watching you... because they are. OnStar is tracking a handful of data streams related to your driving such as speed and location, and it's doing so regardless of whether you are still subscribed to the system.

Does anyone else find it a bit ironic that much of the information is being sold to government agencies, and a senator is calling for an investigation?

Perhaps a good place for the government to start, would be to stop paying money for our personal information!!!

... not only ironic, but (excuse me) moronic. We have a system that is in failure mode (and has been for a long time) and the only thing our reps. can seemingly work on together is ?? ... pretty much nothing. Your comment ALMOST (Don't try to stop me. I can do it, you know.) prompts me to start a list of all the things affecting our daily lives that go ignored by our representatives. Come to think of it, since most people don't do anything themselves about changing things (see above), I guess they truly are our "representatives."
