If you're not going to explain why this vehicle deserves credit with 462 MPH then you have to consider the real land speed record from more than a decade ago, the Thrust SSC.

Neat but kind of anti climatic. Since the area is so void of any sort of landmarks its kind of hard to tell they are really moving that fast.

I also wonder what the little cluster of lights to the left of the steering wheel mean when they turn on.They only turn on briefly then off for a while then back on. Would that be telling the driver when hes' in the speed trap?

Yeah. It would be really cool if they had some landmarks set up. Maybe just some fake movie prop building facades set off at a safe distance.

Yeah, that was very kewl....BUT can you image a ride in the back seat of a F-16D Fighting Falcon fighter skimming 50 feet over the wave tops of Lake Erie doing around 850 Knots airspeed, then buzzing a HUGE ore carrier with a "pop-up and over"! I swore we were going to hit one of the masts or the bridge!!!!

I was a very lucky fool to do so back in '96 when my 1st cousin (he was the 178th TFW CO, OH ANG) arranged for me to get a hop.....a ride of a lifetime that I'll never forget! Unfortunate to lose my cookies 3 times during the 45 minute flight....ACKKKKK I felt sorry for the Crew Chief as he had to clean it up later!!! LOL

Now: I Want to know, what was the POWERPLANT!
