Yes! That is our rightful place and we strive to keep it.

We all carry guns, too. And in the great state of Texas they're about to pass a law that would make it legal to carry a concealed weapon into schools. Not sure this applies to grade schools, but it IS Texas.

I think most people would have enough common sense not to go stripping and cleaning guns while driving, texting and talking on the cellphone while driving makes as much sense (and is just as dangerous).

I could say so many things....How about, I hope the students and firearms have to at least be licenced.

Down here it's trying to ban cellphones in school due to possible cyberbulling and classroom distraction.

I think you credit people with too much common sense.

We have such a ban up here, but it does not include hands free devices. LOTS of people were busted when the law first came into effect, but now no one gives a damn. You'll get a ticket if you're spotted, but the cops aren't cruising around looking for these people.

I saw a homeless guy on a boulevard. At least his sign said he was homeless. Turns out he was a cop [the sentinel] observing who was talking/texting while waiting at a red light. He signalled another cop down the road and the dumb*ss was issued a ticket. I laughed.

/rant on because now I can't help myself/

Last year, I passed a woman on the highway. Her speed was significantly lower than everyone else's. She had her steering wheel tilted as flat as it could go and reading a magazine. At 90 kph. I often wonder if Darwin had people in mind too.

I cannot believe the stupidity of some people. And their sense of entitlement is equally stupid.

/rant off before I wreck my day/

What about all "high tech" radios with those wonderful multi-function knobs that make you stare at the cool little window, making adjustments, until you notice a semi coming in your direction?

Lordy, do we HAVE to make something illegal before people decide it is a bad idea?

Well, yes. Yes we do.

We deserve the nanny state....too many idots proving that they need it.
