"It greatly reduces smoke and therefore creates a minimal carbon footprint."

Really? Where does the carbon go? Wow, maybe it's so hot it splits it into 3 atoms of helium. Amazing!

They probably mean for the same amount of cooking time available to you - using say; 5Kg of wood in an open fire pit; you now only use 1Kg of wood to cook the same amount of food - coz your fuel now burns more economical in a confined space....so still producing carbon...just much less of it.

Let's see, if it take a certain quantity of energy to heat a gallon of water to a certain temperature, and if the amount of carbon released is proportionate to the amount of energy released, but you merely release more of the available carbon of a smaller amount of biomass... I'm not seeing it! You're going to have to tell me what I'm missing. Sounds like we're liberating approximately the same mass of hydrogen to get the same quantity of energy regardless of how much of the available biomass is converted and consequently liberating the same amount of carbon.

They claim that it uses less than half the amount of fuel and reduces smoke emission by up to 90%. That's significant for the uses they are targeting the "home" version for.
