I imagine that AP1000 is a thermal neutron reactor. I think this is old technology. As I understand it, a newer technology is a fast neutron breeder reactor that can use as fuel the "waste" from thermal neutron reactors, and also use Thorium and Uranium-238 for fuel. This greatly expands the available fuel supply. In addition they produce a much smaller volume of waste that is far less radioactive.

Coal is on the way out? What about the newly discovered molecule, found in the atmosphere, that can be combined with others to clean the atmosphere of pollutants? I just read about it a couple of weeks or so ago. Also, what about that micro-nuclear power plant that is supposed to use some sort of cold fusion to produce hydrogen? This sounds possible bogus but the molecule appeared legit.
