The Oldest Forest Ever Discovered Was Hidden In the Catskills

This is the second fossilized forest that has stunned researchers this month, and it's also the oldest. It's 385 million years old, from the time when the earth's first forests appeared. And it was all buried beneath a quarry in Upstate New York.

And underneath one of the trees were the fossilized bones of an old bearded man, with the initials "RvW" sewn into his collar.

Ohhhh this is way too kewl, as Gilboa isn't all that far of a drive for me! To think that this entire area holds the some of the oldest fossilized remains of ancient forests is too much!
