I had no part in that, and do not condone the use of deadly force against innocent civilians...However, civilians entering into a potential war zone should accept the risks associated with such action...and they were compensated...The war ship of a threatening nation is another story though...You can't expect to threaten to kill somebody, and have them stand by and watch as you build the gun right in front of them, and expect anybody to think you were just bluffing to impress your friends...The Iranians don't think anyone takes them serious, because they don't take themselves seriously...this is a serious miscalculation...imo

...and they were compensated.
Oh that's ok then
I suggest you read your own post and marvel at it's double speak.
'potential war zone'... 'risk'
It was a scheduled flight, shot down through complete incompetence... but you still don't accept it as such, and blame the other party.
Silly civilians boarding a scheduled flight, what were they thinking of?
And was anyone held to account and imprisoned?
Del

PS Might I suggest the following response would have been more apposite.
"Oh dear, sorry, I'd forgotten that incident. I s'pose my post was rather insensitive"

Oh please, a Brit playing the innocent, shall we review your history? Your the one that brought up the airliner incident...It was insensitive of you to bring it up in a conversation that had nothing at all to do with it...I was just joking around and you tried to turn it into something nasty and hateful....BAD KITTY!

Anybody with a real hard-on can follow it back somwhere about here. If disapointed, just check out CR4's pic of the month on martial arts (nicely labelled as 'gravity defying').

Rail guns use magnetic power correct?

So why the the big flash like from an explosion?

You have two metal rails, one positive, one negative, you place a metal slug between them, which causes a short circuit of around a million amps, the flow of electricity through the projectile causes it to propel at great speed according to the right hand rule....The projectile begins to lift off the rails and massive arcing occurs...Both the projectile and the rails are melted at the arc points to a very high temperature causing a fiery blast of white/red hot liquid metal,,, smoke, and something akin to a stick of dynamite exploding in your face....all this occurs so fast, you thought it just exploded....

So me and my boys were out cruising in our boats off the coast of Somalia when there was a really loud crash, and this 5" piece of steel crashed right through the boat. What kind of crap is this? How does you think we gonna stay in business?
