Copyright Math

Posted March 16, 2012 2:19 PM

From Boing Boing:

This may just be the best TED Talk video I've seen: listen.com/Rhapsody founder and extremely funny person (and soon-to-be debut science fiction author) Rob Reid examines the math behind the claims made by the copyright lobby and explains the mindbending awesomeness of the sums used to justify SOPA, PIPA, ACTA and the like.

The embedded video is just over 5 minutes. Humorous and to the point.

I like TED.

It's not just video and music. The entire justification for our bloated, corrupt government is based on pretend numbers. Our debt is the only real number in the mix.

They insist that more of it is necessary. I don't require them in my life. We need to step up to the plate, face reality, re-read the Constitution, and cut the entire federal government to about 25% of it's current size.

How can it be done?

Responsibility is shifted to the individual states. It's the way it started, and it's the way it was intended to be. The feds can no longer afford to bribe and bully the states into compliance.

The irresponsible a$$holes are killing our country with their prolonged chess game over power. I'm tired of financing it.

Why don't you stop complaining to everybody and run for office if you're so concerned...? Oh yes I'm sure you have an excuse, people like you always do....But why are you complaining to us? Complain to your government officials, they can do something, we can't....

I communicate with my state representatives. I appreciate the fact that you find my posts intelligent enough that you think I should run for office...........Thank you. Unfortunately I don't have the money that that would require.

I'm not complaining. Just pointing out facts in the hope that just maybe................people like you might cop a clue. I don't have a lot of hope that my efforts will work, but if just one person is saved from the cesspool of ignorance and apathy, it will be well worth the trouble.

A seed will have been planted. If nurtured, it will bear common sense as it's fruit.

I'm happy that you're happy with the norm. A little jealous actually. Those of us that put any degree of thought into our current situation realize that it can't be sustained with any degree of success.

Maybe I just need to move to the beach.

If property values continue to decline down there in Fla, I might just be able to pick up a winter place on the beach. We can hang out and bury our heads in the sand.

Have you ever stopped to think that you don't know nearly as much as you think you do, about what is going on in the world?

Yep. I'm sure things are far worse than I can even imagine.

I probably just need to start watching the nightly news on any of the networks.............................and believe that the smoke they blow up my a$$ is true.

"You've heard the saying "misery loves company"...well so does negativity. Negativity is like a cancer always looking for new victims.

It will rob you of your energy and it will severely affect you and your family. Negativity serves absolutely no purpose except to breed more negativity."

Believe or not, I am not a negative person.

I had a rager of a party last night. Booze, bon fire, steamed oysters, music...............lots of fun.

I'm sorry if you find some of my posts depressing. There are many things I would rather be doing than keeping track of a dysfunctional government. Unfortunately, it has reached the point, that for me to pretend everything will be okay has become impossible. I don't let it turn me negative. The news is often depressing.............................the good news is, that these morons can be replaced.

I used to be like you. I paid no attention to politics and just assumed that the Washington people were doing the right thing. I couldn't have been further from the truth.

If you truly don't like negativity, join me and help spread the word of the reckless and irresponsible behavior of our so called leaders. The whole world will be better for it.

You're funny.

The depth of negativity that is associated with your short post is beyond what I can imagine.

One day at a time bro.
