US company shows off vehicle that flies and drives can be flown or driven.
One significant drawback to this entire concept of car/plane... where do you get them serviced? Where do you go if you are involved in a simple fender-bender? How do you get to this service? Something as simple as a cracked windscreen would be a significant problem.
A car/plane is a great and fun idea to consider, pretty cool, and might actually solve some problems. Just not practical, in the practical sense. I don't see that changing anytime soon.
I agree. Perhaps in the very rare instance of someone who goes from home to airport to work or somewhere else for some reason this might be a good alternative. But you also need to be a pilot. Yeah, I'm really having a hard time seeing how this is practical.
There's a huge safety hurdle to overcome. I guess putting on your lipstick and brushing your hair can still be done, after takeoff so the lady pilots can fly it, too.
But, do I need an A&P mechanic to service it?
I'm not too worried, it costs at least $4,000.00USD to become a private pilot and then there's the initial cost of the contraption.
Doesn't look like it will do well in a cross wind on the ground, either.
I think rich, experienced pilots who live in remote loccations or have their own island will buy it.

Oooh, I believe a few members will bristle over this one. Good luck.

I only know two rich, experienced pilots who live in remote loccations, and I agree they are possible customers. These characters are not too concerned with the practicality of things they desire. I would bet one of them has already ordered one or two of those twin-barrel .45ACP pistols.

This is not the first successful effort at designing and building a flying car - that was many years ago - do a google search - in fact a couple of that first successful attempt are still airworthy!!!!
