I think the rise here is obvious. More and cheaper gadgets will drive these sales much further. There's something to be said about physical media of which I'm a fan. Not so much for movies or tv shows, I could care less about owning blurays. But I like holding a book in my hand. The feel, the smell, turning pages. Needless to say I have not made the shift to ebooks. I have a 100 gigs of music on my computer, but I still love vinyl. The artwork, booklets and look of the records are very cool and the audio is great. I will be very sad when physical media is dead.

The world is depending more and more on electricity, and its availability, to provide these things. No power? No book.

Here's a vote for papyrus and its derivatives.

Meaningless statistics...
Maybe they sold 100 last year and 154 this?

The stat aren't the point. The shift to digital media and the willingness of people to adapt digital methods over physical media is what I think is interesting.
