Posted May 19, 2012 3:03 PM

From TechCrunch:

The anticipation is palpable. Hundreds of hackers have congregated outside Manhattan's Pier 94, planning, strategizing, and praying to baby Jesus that their fates will be similar to those of Group.me and Docracy. We've seen plenty of Hackathon winners go on to do incredible things, make millions of dollars, and rise to startup stardom levels, but the journey isn't a simple one.

I couldn't make any sense of this article. And what has hacking got to do with praying to baby Jesus?

I'm guessing it has something to do with creating a new app for a phone. Which seems like a pretty lame activity for all that hype. Wonder what they do for fun, play Angry Birds while doing jello shots?

They never did state what the purpose was. Sounds like an excuse for a bunch of kids to get together and get jacked up on red bull..........................which is horrible stuff by the way. I drank a few when they first came out, and could have sworn that I was either having, or was about to have a heart attack. Never again.
