Researchers Identify Mechanism That Turns White Fat Cells to Brown

Posted August 06, 2012 11:33 AM

From Gizmag Emerging Technology Magazine:

Earlier this year, a team from UC San Francisco reported on the discovery that a class of commonly prescribed type-2 diabetes drugs, called TZDs (thiazolidinediones, such as Actos and Avandia), promoted the conversion of energy-storing white fat cells into energy-burning brown fat cells. Now researchers at Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) have identified the mechanism that causes this change to take place, potentially leading to new techniques to treat obesity and type-2 diabetes.

Why is everything always potentially helpful or may lead to some treatment or may be helpful? I'll tell you one thing you can be sure of,,,,the side effects will be unpleasant and potentially harmful or may lead to death....

it's all in steps, if they can identify what mechanism is used to turn relatively good fat cells to bad fat cell, it may help.

What is missing, is the foundation mechanism to good health is;

· Eat right

· Get enough Sleep

· and being active, both physically and mentally.

But that's too hard, too many "X" gen and below need a pill, or a button to push for it. And thats why the research.

Oh, and by the way......... all things lead to death.

Obesity is one of the largest health problems that the world faces. Research in that area is as valid as that in any other. Exercise is not a very effective way to lose weight. It is a good way to build muscle and aerobic capacity. Side effects always need to be considered, that is true. There is nothing wrong with taking pills, when they provide an overall benefit. Blood pressure medications, and statins have greatly reduced cardiovascular illness and death worldwide. http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm4830a1.htm

Safe and effective obesity drugs will be discovered some day. What is wrong with that?

My mother had a stroke, suffered six months and died of a stroke. She did not like the side effects of her blood pressure medicine, or how it made her feel so she stopped using it. People should be very hesitant to advise people not to take pills.
