Posted April 24, 2013 10:58 AM

From Renewable Energy News - RenewableEnergyWorld.com:

As the enthusiasm for solar power grows, so does the generosity. Anonymous donors have been coming forward to fund solar projects at K-12 schools, universities and municipalities across the nation. Many donations are graciously accepted; others are viewed with skepticism.

enthusiasm for solar power grows.

What kind of enthusiasm,

  1. Technical
  2. Cost
  3. Investment returns

Each has totally different difinitions of success, imo

I think the school needs a course on finance!!!

A $350,000 gift that returns a savings of $15,500 per year pays for itself in 22.5 years.

$350,000 invested at an annual rate of just 5% returns $17,500 in interest each year!

I guess from my post the enthusiasm is investor returns, thanks to government subsidies........

I have no problem with individuals investing their own money into solar power ventures regardless of whether or not I think the investment is sound. I object to the federal government investing wasting taxpayer money it doesn't have (which essentially means the money comes from future taxpayers....our children) in solar companies.

Why are these being gifted anonymously? Seems kind of strange.

How are they going to write this off? What if these aren't actually solar panels, but terrorist devices built to emulate solar panels for the first year or so.....then....
