CARMAT Bioprosthetic Heart Implanted in First Patient

Word comes our way that a team at the Georges Pompidou European Hospital in Paris has successfully implanted the first CARMAT heart in a human patient, and the recipient is awake, conscious, but under close observation in the ICU.

Looks like a great feat of engineering.
Shame the battery and control system have a load of wires (4?!) joining it all up. It looks rather vulnerable.

I didn't get any sound with the video which didn't help.

Gosh what else are they going to do,most probably an animals heart into a human.

That was always the problem with powering and controll........ But they did cut down the amount of tubes and the wiring.... To a point that in another 20-30 years, it will be less conspicuous.
