London Gets Smart Parking Sensors

My guess is the real selling point is not that it can be used in conjunction with an app to make parking less stressful. City councils will approve the expense of putting in these meters for the additional revenue, from things like any excess toll paid not being usable after that car pulls away, and perhaps alerts to ticket writers for expired meter parking or even autoticketing.
