Ionic Music

Posted January 22, 2014 12:00 PM by Engineering360 eNewsletter

Smartphones and HDTVs of the future could play music directly through anoverlay on their screens. When the ions in the gel flow, the rubber vibrates at specific frequencies to produce sound.

The previous entry posting in this newsletter section was 18 months ago. Why have this sub-section at all if new information will be provided only every 18 months?

Ok, I hope that the newsletter will be more in depth than four sentences that link to another publication.

As for this prototype speaker design, it is intriguing to have a transparent speaker. The fact that they cannot prevent these speakers from drying out yet may keep leave them in the lab. Speaking of lab speakers, I originally thought that this was going to be about plasma speakers. This approach is commercially available, but not for those with a limited budget.

Each newsletter is a collection of brief stories like this one. There are probably 10 or so in each newsletter. You can check out past issues by clicking on the link in the original post.
