Sounds like an evil plot to force people to go back to using libraries and books for research.

Makes about as much sense as having to order 400 channels of TV, just so you can watch 6 of them.

Another unneeded "solution" in search of a non-existent problem.

Their address should be DonutsInc.scam.

Adds no value, makes things less intuitive and as AH said, opens up a whole new world for scam artists who want to "give" you money, or infections!

There has been a slow and steady increase of top-level domains. The only advantage to a domain customer is there are more possibilities for desirable domain names. I suspect the domain sellers are hoping for more money spent on 'place holders'. Wealthy companies such as ATT buy all the ATT.(top-level domain). I suspect the domain sellers will see a diminishing return there.

I do not know anyone that shops or surfs by top-level domains. We all use a query engines to find what we want, usually Google.

This might reduce security of the web a bit more. Consumers could get lured into buying items from a fake site with the same domain name but a different top level domain. However, it is cheaper just to alter the user's DNS server to a hacker server. That is cheap usually fairly easy to do if your computer doesn't protect against that. This is very dangerous since with a great deal of effort you can poison automatic updates.
