Who Trained You?

Posted February 28, 2014 12:00 AM by Milo

Guest post by Robin Rutschilling, Clippard Instrument Laboratory, Inc.

I am sitting at my desk preparing my day and this thought came to me, who trained you?

My mentors go back to the 1970′s working with my father in his sawmill which helped develop my work ethic and safety awareness.

As I progress 35 years I think about the key contributors along the way Tom Nelson, Lee Fuller, Bill Clippard and Bob Clippard….. the question that I am having trouble answering today is- Who am I training and am I helping people as much as my mentors helped me?

Who trained You?

Who mentored You?

Who are you training?

Who are you mentoring?

If you love Manufacturing as I do, you will have answers to these four questions.

"Education, mentorship and experience will take mediocre and make them good; will make the good great; and make the great world class!"- David Thuro

Dear Mr.Milo,

1. WHO TRAINED YOU.?

Majority of my learning is on my own self steered Effort, based on the advice of my Professor, advise was BE ON YOUR OWN and PUT IN YOUR EFFORT and you will get the result.. hence I should say my Professor is my trainer.

Even to-day, any doubt for me I consult him, and he will also ask me " Hi, Dhayanandhan, what are you doing in the industry for this issue ( He will give description about the issue for which he wants reply) and he is now aged 76, and very active.

2. WHO MENTORED YOU.?

My immediate Boss while I handled independent shift duty running a sugar factory during 1971. I owe a lot to him.

3.WHO ARE YOU TRAINING.?

I think this question should be as "WHOM YOU ARE TRAINING.? I am training my entire staff by taking class, by rotation on fixed days - right from worker to Managerial Staff in all aspects. If need be I conduct examination, prescribing minimu pass mark is 60%

4. WHO ARE YOU MENTORING.? I think this question should read as " WHOM YOU ARE MENTORING."

I am mentoring the staff who - rigidly follows the working aspect who quotes authoritatively the correct Tech.Aspect and producing required evidence to support his views, and applies his mind on what he has learnt.

I am not sure - whether you consider this as appropriate reply to your posting.

These are good questions and nearly all of us experienced the answers during our life (and still experiencing).

He just wants to point out the important words and the questions (which in this case are like sub-topics)

I do not understand the hate, anger in the internet. He wrote a long answer to a question why not discuss and share ideas instead of insulting and shouting?

Come on Tornado, it was just a way to visually demarcate between the OP's quoted questions and Mr D's responses.

I use italics, some will use bold, others quotation marks....so what.

There are some who capitalise with gay abandon.....but not our mate D.

"PEACE DUDE"......man, that was deafening!!

You haven't read nearly enough of his posts; that one was admittedly not the most extreme.

We were supposed to get training when we started this job?

Does management know about this?
